In 1993, as a soon to be father, Pat wanted to be present for his young, growing family. He knew his sales job required too much travel. At the same time, Pat was serving as the Treasurer for his local church. Tasked with handling all of the church's bills, he disliked paying the excessive electric bill month after month. In determination, he set out to better understand the confusing bill and to try to locate cost savings for the church.

After devouring the rate code book from the local utility provider and spending several days working to recalculate the charges, Pat realized he saw opportunities for rate reduction that others had not. Confident that this newfound skillset and passion could be applied to other utilities, he stepped out to create Midwest Utility Consultants. His first client was his church: Pat found a previously unseen electric billing error of $1,800 and was also able to reduce the water bill by $183 per month.

Now, over 30 years later, Pat is still reducing utility rates, finding billing errors, and discovering creative cost-reduction solutions for midsize to large companies and non-profits in Greater Cincinnati.
